Honda recon
« on: August 20, 2006, 11:23:07 AM »
morning guys, I am getting ready to buy a 4 wheeler. Honda & polaris are the only dealers close to where I live. I don't want too heavy a rig and like the Honda reacon the best so far. Any sugestions? What does a new recon sell for where you live. In southeast Alaska they are $3700.00. Thanks for your help, Byron

You must be talking about the 250cc rig.  Honda's are great machines.  I have an old atc 110 that won't quit.  The only thing to worry about with a Honda is the electric shift.  Many people say they are bullet proof because they have no belt.  I would get a manual Recon if they make them.  The 250 will do anything the bigger ones will except pull heavy loads.  The 250 Recon sells for just at $3000 in South Carolina.  I hope this helps.

For a small quad and only Honda or Polaris to choose from, I would go with the Honda Recon.  Other wise if there were more choices, i might recommend something different..  I think you get alot more for your money in a small quad with an Artic Cat.

I have had my Recon for a couple years and love it. I have a Foreman as well but like the Recon better, light and nimble. I have the Electric shift and had no problems. It is a great convience and can be shifted manualy in the event of a failure. No designed to be ridden like that in definatly but works in a emergency. A great little machine. I goes great and I am no little guy.

Thanks guys.I've been leaning towards the Recon myself.
Last fall, there were holdover 05s selling in the mid/low $2000 range.
I'm going to wait and hope that it happens again this fall, when the '07s come out.

Check out Southern Honda in TN.I may have to "volunteer" to visit some of the wife's people this fall!

You forgot to memtion the Suzuki 250 Ozark. It's rated the best of the small quads. I was going to buy one until I ran across a killer deal on a used 250 Arcti Cat. The new Arctic Cat 250 just ain't the same as the old one. The Orzark has the rest beat with ground clearence.
