Bull barrel 223 question

Just happened to find this site and I'm glad I did.
Does anyone have any experience with the bull barrel handi rifle in a 223? Is it a tack driver or just so-so? My wife has one with the standard barrel in a 22 hornet and it shoots a 3/4" group at 50 yds.easy. 1-1 1/2 at 100. Hand loads.

I have a 22" heavy barrel with a choat varmint stock. It shoots under 1inch at 100 with a variety of factory ammo havent tried reloads yet.

Welcome aboard!! I have the 24" bull barreled .223 Ultra Varmint, shoots the win white box 45gr JHP inside an inch! ;)

Lots and lots of satisfied 223 Handi owners around here. If the Search feature was up you could see the hord of topics about it...it should be up and running soon.
Any way it's a great caliber for a Handi, and are usually among the most accurate of NEF/H&R offerings. Mine shoot under an inch and do it consistantly. With the best barrel around 1/2" consistantly, sometimes it will behave and treat me better, it's just a joy to shoot. Though it took it a little while to get there, as the bore was a little rough. Nothing a good polish could have done, but I chose to shoot it smooth 8) It keeps shooting better and better.
And welcome to GBO, stay and enjoy the site. A lot of info, and some good decent people.
You might even be able to shrink the groups of that Hornet as well, after you get to reading  ;D

Mine shoots great the only problem is that there is probably moss growing in the barrel of it and all my other guns as it has been so long between range visits.  ::) All kidding aside it is a great barrel.

I took this one to Ok. for a pd shoot and was making shots to 500+ yards , on any given day i can shoot 3/4 or less with my handloads .



Do you think i will part with it ---NOT a chance !!!

 My 223 bull barrel shots better than I can, If wind is not blowing  50 mph.
 like it was when we were in Oklahoma Panhandle. Marv.

Mine IS a tack driver with my handloads....easily under as long as I do my part.

After having seen my wife shoot her 22 Hornet and the comments here I ordered a Ultra Varmint today.
Here's my wifes "sight-in" target when we sighted in the scope.



Shot at 50 yards from sand bags. the first center fire she ever shot. There are a few strays until we got it zero'd.
