I'm not recoil sensitive. But using the 240 grain XTPS are not bad. Start out with about 80 grains of powder and work up a good accurate load.

About like a 270 cal. It doesn't kick as much as you would think.

I am pretty recoil sensitive due to a broken collarbone and shoulder. I shoot my Omega with 100gr. Black Mag'3 and a 300gr. bullet with reasonable recoil. Just to put it into perspecive my upper limit is a 30-06 with a 165gr. bullet. I put a Simms recoil pad on the Omega and am planning on one for my Huntsman just to make the bench shooting more comfortable. With the exception of maximum loads with Tripple Seven which by the way has a lot more felt recoil than most of the other powders due mainly to the fact that it has a much quicker pressure rise rate when burning. It works expecially well in short barrel rifles. I hate the stuff due to the crud ring and mainly shoot Black Mag'3 which in my long barrel Omega give me the same velocities as 777 with a lot less felt recoil.

The load you mentioned when shot out of the Huntsman will be a little less than the recoil from a 12gauge pump or single shot. It might be close to a 12 auto with shot but probably less than same shotguns with a slug. I switched from a pump to an auto 12 gauge just because the automatic is a lot more comfortable to shoot a lot when dove huinting. In any case adding a simms recoil pad will work wonders.

I love my huntsman.  Recoil is a big reason. I hate recoil.  I shoot 285 gr hornadys with 100 gr 777 powder.  It is the sweetest shooting thing.  It kicks less than my 12 guage ever thought of.

Enjoy.
