barnes TSX bullets
« on: August 24, 2006, 04:45:55 PM »
I am havibng my son's rifle fully customized by these folks the owner wrote me after I told him I thought the Barnes tsx's were great if not the best.here is what he wrote.

Bill,

Great, we will go with the 7-08 Ack.

Just a couple of notes on bullets if you are interested??

As you know, we test a lot of guns and bullets every year.  In the last 10 years we have averaged over 30,000 rounds per year.  This is no big deal as there are of bunch of other guys out there that shoot just as much.  What is a big deal however, is that no one tests as many bullets as we do on live game.

We operate our own outfitting service in both Idaho & Southern Africa.  This equals a whole lot of bullet recovery.  One of my stories on bullet performance just came out in African Hunter magazine with pictures of recovered bullets.  There is another story on the same subject due out in African Hunter and Precision Shooting in Sept.  Again lots of pictures.

Bottom line, nothing on planet earth performs like the new Barnes TSX or MRX.  At any speed or any caliber.  They always open, give max penetration and no blow ups.

You are right about speed in one sense, faster isn't necessarily better, but if you want speed the TSX will do it.

Any how, we are moving forward with the gun and we will order the dies.  If you are interested I recommend the 150 gr. TSX or Sciroccos for this.

Regards;
my huntin rifle is safe from confiscation only while my battle rifle protects it.

Mike, I have used the 115TSX on Whitetails, Mule Deer & Antelope. The accuracy was great, the BC
is not as high as I had wished, but boy it is a devasting bullet. The bullet gave serious wound channels each time & I never recovered a bullet. I shot one whitetail Buck into the front shoulder(shooting down) & it raked through the animal & broke the rear leg on the opposite side. Yea, he went straight down & the wound channel was straight & large.
ENJOY!!!
You will not make peace with the Bluecoats, you are free to go.

That new rifle for your son sounds great 8) 8)
Will you do/or do you believe in doing the full cleaning procedure every shot or two for 15 shots to get the rifling smoothed out?

the gunsmith/custom rifle maker sent instructions for a breakin procedure.I will follow it and break the barrel in for my son.I have 100 new case's that have been preped.flash hole deburred, primer pockets uniformed, all trimmed to the same length, they have only been neck sized.they are loaded with small charge of a relitivly fast burning rifle powder.with a cheap 7mm bullet.I will fire form the cases for him as I break the barrle in.then find a load that works and he will be good to go..
