Prices for Winchetser Big Bores?
« on: August 27, 2006, 01:59:51 PM »
Say a person wanted a Winchester timber carbine in 444 or450 ? In general, what do these go for? How about big bores in 375? There is a gun show and a deer & turkey expo coming up and I might  go to them and if I see a winchester in 444, 450, or 375 I wouldn't want to pay to much.

Gunbroker.com will give you a good indication of what they're selling for.  I purchased my Winchester 94 Timber Carbine (444) new in December 2005 at a local gun shop that had two of them for quite some time.  They had them for $349 and no takers.  I wish I had bought both.  I've seen them selling for $900 new in box now.  But, used ones seem to sell for $500 or so.  I love mine, and of the 8 Winchesters I own, it's my favorite.

If you can find a decent used .444 or .450 Timber Carbine for $500 bucks, you better grab it! Most I've seen are in the mid $600's used and some .450's are go'n for $1200-$1400 NIBs. Heck the .444's on GB were go'n for $800-$1000 NIB! The .375's, if there is a NIB around will push at least $1000 and they are go'n for $500 to $750 used.

As much as they sound inflated, it realy is not. A new XLR Marlin will run ya 'round $700 bucks, and I 'd personally rather have a Timber Carbine or a '94 Black Shadow in a .444. Not that the XLR isn't nice, but the '94's handle much better for me.
