I've tried Varget and had the same results as with other powders. I may just have a LEMON. I've not been able to come up with a load that will work with this rifle. 2" or larger groups are the norm with it. I and others have had problems with tight bolts on reloaded shells also. Factory stuff wil just drop in. Not so with reloads. I've read some pretty disheartening stuff on other sites about the WSSMs. I hope your results are different from mine. If this rifle didn't belong to my wife,it would have been gone long ago.

Varget does indeed work very well with the light bullets (50-70g) It's a bit spotty on the heavier bullets, but it does well enough if you only want to buy one powder for the whole range of weights. For the 75g to 95g bullets RL19 shows great results but the best we found was N160, for the +95g bullets AA3100 gets second place with N165 being the best. The 3100 will give a little higher velocity at lower pressure but only in the long barrels, the short ones N165 gets it.

HWD, shoot me an e-mail I'd like to discuss your loads with you and see if we can offer any suggestions to get your rifle where it should be.

If I were going to use just one powder for all bullet weights, it would be one of the 4350 powders.  However, I don't...

Reed1911,

I have tried H4831,IMR4350 and some others but I don't remember which. Most of my loads have been shot with 100gr bullets. Hornady,Corlokt and Sierra. The one that I got to shoot the best was a 100gr Hornady RN. Less than 1" @100yds. Problems arose when loading more than 1 at a time. They won't feed from the mag. I haven't said before, but this is a Browning A-Bolt. It's been back twice.

It kinda worried me when the customer service person told me they were receiving a lot of complaints about rifles chambered for this round. The complaints included both Browning and Winchester. I asked if they would buy one for themselves and got a definite NO.

Now,please don't get me wrong on this rifle. I like the rifle. I like the concept of the WSSM. I've just about pulled out what little hair I have left. I've been reloading since back in the late 80's and have run into some real HUMDINGERS over the years. This one takes the cake.

I'll get my info together and give ya what I've tried. Maybe ya can help me come up with something that'll tickle Mama. She's just put this in the case and don't shoot it anymore.

Thanks
HWD
