7-08 barrel went bye-bye...
« on: August 29, 2006, 08:09:43 AM »
when I went down to buy some dies for reloading. The local shop had a blue 14'' 44 Mag barrel on a S/S frame that no one was interested in. Just for giggles,I asked if he would consider trading barrels. He grabbed a screwdriver and starte pulling the forearm off ! We changed scopes and left the bases(they were both weaver stlye) alone.

Gotta go buy some ammo and give the thing a try out. Ya'll got any suggestions? I still gotta buy some dies , which is what I was after to begin with ! Oh well, just another reason to go back to the gun shop.

Weeellll,

I don't feel that I got ripped. I liked the barrel and caliber. I didn't like the muzzle flip or the fact that you had to wear doubled up ear protection. All told, he's happy and I'm happy.

It was my idea(the trade). Oh well , I may come up on someone who can't live without a 44 mag barrel and they mat have something that I can't live without. The trading continues....?
