I WAS JUST WONDERING IF THERE IS ANY WSM (WINCHESTER SHORT MAG) BARRELS AVAILABLE FOR MY ENCORE.   JUST CURIOUS.  I AM LOOKING FOR A GOOD DEER RIFLE BARREL

Some have been made & they did not do very well for the most part. The case diameter is a little
too large relative to the frame size & high pressure reloads especially will cause the frame to stretch.
60,000 PSI for example in a 300WM case for example as opposed to the same pressure is easier on the frame of the Encore than the same pressure with the WSM, totally different because the belted
case is smaller in dia. & less back pressure. This same principle explains why the smaller Contender Frame does not except a belted mag.

TC makes it easy for us with the Pro Hunter offering. If you like the 270cal. then you can get the Pro Hunter with the 28" tube. Most 270WSM bolt guns have a 24" barrel & with the 270PH & warm
but safe loads you can be very, very close & do so with a gun that is the same length as a 24" bolt gun.

I have never seen one, the barrels are not thick enough to safely accept a WSM case.  Stick with the standard cartridges, for deer any thing from 243 to 45-70 will do the job.   ;D

I have seen custom barrels listed on ebay but personally I'd stick with the originals

What's the point?  The short mags were developed to make a magnum rifle with a short action to make it llighter and faster.  Since there is no action with an Encore, there is no advantage that I see.

That is a very good point, not need for a short action is there is no action.  ;)

I have a 270WSM made by Virgin Valley (now Match Grade Machine)  and have never had any trouble with it.  The original problems resulted from factory ammo that was too hot and was also causing issues in bolt guns. My 26" Encore shoots ragged 1 hole groups with 90gr HP, 130 Scirrocco's, and 140 Accubonds.  Using sensible loads and sizing the brass to fit your individual frame is the key.
