Got back into muzzle loading. I have an old TC Hawken I built from a kit while in college and killed one elk with it. I just purchased a TC Omega. Shoots real well. Question. According to my TC manual: 150grn in Pyrodex pellets pushing a 300 grn sabotted bullet will yield 2036 fps at the muzzle, while on the oposite page, it shows that 150 grn Black Powder behind the same bullet gets you 1758 fps.
I know the comparison is equal volume equivalents of pyrodex pellets vs black powder, but I thought that the pydex (as well as other black powder substitutes) were suppose to yield equal results to black powder.
Would an equal volume of loose pyrodex vs pellets yield the same velocity results?
Little help here? Thanks Peter
