One of the many uses for Toilet paper..
« on: August 30, 2006, 10:18:50 AM »
A friend used to heat his hunting blind with Toilet paper..
Take a roll and shove it down into a metal coffee can.
Pour in a couple of bottles of rubbing alcohol.
(He says you can't smell it burning, And I couldn't)
and then put the lid back on. TP soaks it up
and all you have to do is pop the lid off and drop a match on it.
Instant heater.

I have another valuable use for tp. I carry it when bow hunting so when I hit a deer at last light it can be used to mark the blood trail. Hang a large piece it the brush on then blood trail every 20 yards. I works great at night. It marks the last place you found blood and the entire trail back to point of impact, this helps you find your way back also. Sometimes deer like to run and run and run after a fatal arrow hit, 100, 200, 300, 400 yards and more. The trail of tp leads to the deer and your stand. You can pick it up or leave it since it is biodegradable.

I have been using tp for a heater for a while. I use it in my box stand deer hunting. If I dont open the windows it makes my eyes water. Also keep an old aluminum pie plate to cover when wanting to extinguish.

I have used that in a elevated shooting stand and it works great.

Works ok if you dont have gauze or bandages
I light a chunk and huck in the drip oil stove to light it (perfection)
Used some on a long piece of wire to light the pilot on a propane fired livestock water trough de-icer

Used some to clean my marlin model 60.

Had some kids running up and down my street makeing all sorts of late night racket (Holloween time) cops were useless , so I strung some 3# mono line across the road and two lengths of toilet paper about 4foot long and looped the TP over the mono and gave it a couple twists so each was in each side the road, they were a murky white thing hovering a 5 feet off the road, the noisey boys came back round 2am with the loud pipes and I heard tires skiding on gravel and the loud pipes idleing
they for some reason quit coming back down my way ;)

We use the 91% isopropyl alcohol in ours. It has less water in it and lasts longer.

A month or so before the hunting season openers I keep an eye on the TP rolls in the house. When they get close to being used up, 1/4" left on the roll, I take the roll down and mash it flat and store in a snack sized baggie. Whole lot easier getting it off the cardboard than having it all wadded up. The cardboard make for a good fire starter also.

(also keeps the wife happy that I keep the rolls  changed out).

After a night of deer camp cooking that might  not be enough for proper hygene ;D

I'm old.  I've lived a long time and been to the bathroom and excused myself in no few outdoor places.  But, never have I ever had any use for toilet paper.  It sickens me to think about toilet paper.  It's main purpose is to wipe excess poop from your butt.  Right?  How effective can paper be in ridding your anal area of poop?  I have never and will never wipe poop around on my butt with paper.  There's no way a piece of paper, no how soft or heavenly scented, can get it all.  It's just the grossest thing I can imagine.
Anyone who would ever have a reason to check my butt would find it odor free and completely clean 100% of the time.  I find it intolerable to live otherwise.  I won't go into how I keep myself clean, but there are far better ways than smearing oneself with a piece of paper, no matter where you are.
Did you ever see the commercial for toilet paper where the lady says, "It's time to get real about what happens in the bathroom."  I have nightmares about that.  Good grief.  It's way past time to get real about it.  It's one of those issues mankind has been dealing with daily since he's been on the earth.  You'd think with all the technology in the world, we'd see commercials for something that works better.
Yep, I have hygenic issues.  I know that.  I have mental issues in that regard so bad that it's difficult for me to see a person in public without thinking about how filthy his or her butt is.  Filthy because they smeared poop on themselves with paper.  Gross, gross, gross.
If you think I'm a tad over zealous about hygene, check your butt right now.  Go in the bathroom and check it out.  I guarantee it's a nasty, nasty part of  your body that you chose to keep nasty by smearing poop on yourself.

Be careful with the alcohol, as you can't see the flame.....just don't forget and don't ask me how I know.

My scouts, if asked to make a list of supplies will always list TP first....I've trained them well.

So what is your method of rear sanitation?

I use my left thumb...  :-\   A habit I picked up in the orient...  ::)

And I don't worry about it since I don't let nobody smell my butt anyway.   :-\   And anybody that would want to smell someone's butt would probably prefer it more fragrent then less!   :)
