I have been messing around with handi rifles for a while and am ready to get a bolt action. this gun will be a deer/varmint gun i cant make up my mind so i thought i would ask you guys. 270 or 25/06?

.270 I have never had one not shoot like a tack driver and good from varmints to elk. Jack.

For varmits too, 25-06 would be the better choice. I have one, and a 7mm-08. Great rifles for the money.......

ive been using a mr-7 25/06 for about 6 or 7 years and it has worked flawlessly for me in the role you describe.one bullet weight works for everything ( 100gr. soft point) coyotes, groundhogs, deer. the 270 would be a great choice and im told its better for big game, but for what you describe the 25/06 is great and around here the resale on a 25/06 is fantastic seems like every gunshop has 4 or 5 .270's but no 25/06's and everybody wants one.

Get the 25-06. No question in my mind. They hit a deer like a bolt of lightening. Very fast and flat.
