loads for a 44 Encore
« on: August 31, 2006, 03:54:02 AM »
I just came into a 44 barrel for my Encore and am fixin' to start loading for it. Plinking and hunting(WT deer) will be what it'll be used for. I was wondering as to ya'lss choice of bullets. Lead or Jacketed stuff. I've got IMR4227,Win 296 and Unique at home. Would ya use the (standard ?) 240gr bullets or just buy as bunch and play.

All opinions and suggestions will be appreciated.

Try it with some factory ammo first to see if you like it. After that, consider Hornady XTP 240 grain bullets for deer and Cast Performance 300 grain cast bullets for hogs. Use Winchester 296 powder for full power loads; the only other powder to consider is H110 for full power loads.

My favorite load for deer is a max. load of Win. 296 behind a 240 gn. Serria bullet. Serria and Hornady bullets I`ve found to both be real accurate, but the Serrias expand much better on deer. The Hornadys would make a better hog bullet in my oppenion.
