Remington 81 Woodsmaster
« on: August 31, 2006, 07:28:57 AM »
I am in posession of a Remington 81 Woodsmaster .35 of May, 1941 vintage. The rifle is conservatively in 95% original condition. I haven't paid attention in a while...have they improved in the eyes of collectors at all, or are they still of interest only to hunters that appreciate their virtues? Any thoughts on the value this rifle might have today would be appreciated.

Well, take a look at the one that ARE selling on the auction sites, gunbroker, auctionarms, gunsamerica, etc.  Some are overpriced and just get relisted. I don't think they are in real high demand.  Very nice, neat rifles, though.  I like my Model 8 a lot. It will be going hunting this year, by the way.

I have a model 8 too and it does go hunting.  I really liek the rifle too.  As for a '42 model 81, if I recall correctly I would think they would bring about & $600 and up.  You don't see that many in that good of condition.  O it is not a real big ample size.  Remember you do not a lot of folks willing to pay it, you just need one!
