Well lets see, When you say varmints that covers a lot of country. I do a lot of coyote calling, And prairie dog shooting is tops on my list but i am not too sure Prairie dogs ane considered as varmints. I also like to shoot rock squirrels but there is not a lot of them here where i live now But, The area i used to live in was loaded with them, They provide some good long range shots.
Take care........Joe........

I hunt groundhogs, foxes, coyotes, bobcats, and pretty much any other varmint that I'm lucky enough to locate here in SW Virginia.

I'm in New York (hence my screen name!). I haven't hunted any varmints in the last few years. When I did it was mostly crow and woodchucks. This year we'll be hunting coyotes and if a fox just happens to answer the call, we'll hunt them too!  :)

We do have those 13 striped ground squirrels around here. I dont mess with them much unless they move in to the grass and make a bunch of holes. They pop pretty loud when you shoot them with a .22 WMR! is fun and kind of like a mini prarie dog hunt.

Sometimes I will shoot the starlings out of the cherry tree with my Crossman 760.

There is not many groundhogs around here anymore so I wait for the Fox season to open then call and shoot the Fox and the Coyotes.

I don't wast bullets on Varmin anymore, but I use to. Critters like Cynomys ludovicianus in northern Arizona and Cynomys gunnisoni in southern New Mexico. Marmota flaviventris, Citellus beecheyi in California and Citellus townsendi in Nevada to name a few....I just want you guys to look em up lol  ::)

I do hunt predators like coyotes, bobcats, gray fox and badgers. I do not consider a predator a varmint in any way shape or form. My reasoning is Predators are totally a different animal, they do not fit in the Rodentia or Leporidae families at all, matter of fact they eat em lol. ;D ;)

You're right :-[. Like you, I also consider predators to be even higher on the list than big game animals.
