.375 H&H brass???

Every place I have looked online as well as in town are out of stock.  What is the deal?  I thought this caliber was a standard and very popular.

.375 H&H is not the only caliber that has become hard to find brass for.
.458 Win Mag same story.
Rumor is that resources are being diverted from commercial production in order
to take care of the military's demands for ammunition.
Also, copper prices have shot up, last I heard was nearly $4.00 a pound.
Copper is also used in the manufacture of brass cases...
The last catalog I got from "Cheaper Than Dirt" had a notice up front,
stating that there is a world wide ammunition shortage at this time also.
Add to all of that a seasonal increase in demand for ammo and loading components,
and it does not look too good in some respects.

  I have a friend that dosen't relaod and REALLY likes to shoot his 375 H&H mag rifles.  ::) SO I have collected QUITE a pile of his once fired 375H&H brass...Mostly Federal premium nickle plate, but all in all good selection of brands. I'm willing to help you out and part with a couple boxes.

Brass prices are higher now, but there is also the issue of seasonal availability with some cartridges. Companies don't make brass continuously during the year and they may only make one or two batches per year. I doubt that this is due to availability of raw materials.

Most other calibers don't seem to be in short supply, so it probably has more to do with seasonal availability of .375 brass.

Most of this last year, ammo for the SKS / AKs has been hard to come by....
7.62 x 39 is a popular round even in the US nowadays.

The most dramatic example of this phenomenon I've experienced is with .225 Winchester brass. Ever two or three years Winchester makes some, and it's all bought up quickly. .225 cases are popular with handgun hunters as the basis of hunting cartridges.

That's also a part of the problem.
Winchester did not make any .458 Win Mag brass this year either, as another example.

With copper prices going through the roof nowdays, I'm suprised that brass prices are not higher than they are.

Brass is a combination of copper and tin. Exact % differs between uses for brass.

Bronze is copper and nickel.

So, both of these metals, I expect to go up considerably until copper returns to a normal cost. I haven't noticed that much change in price for the brass I buy, but then again, I may just be buying their current stock that has not been affected by the increas of copper cost, yet.

I am not sure what Copper and Nickel is - other than VERY expensive.

Very interesting.  First off I have to commend shooters who are so eager to help a fellow shooter - a true brotherhood.

Second,  I read in a newspaper that some police departments are having trouble getting practice ammo or components for reloading.  Also read in Rifle Mag that some brass is getting real hard to find.  I haven't had trouble finding any sizes I need but I picked up a little more just in case. But it also makes me wonder how resourceful those police depts are - or are they constrained by purchasing policies or restrictions?

I hope the projectile and primer supply holds up. Glad I  have some moulds and several pounds of lead.

Seems like we went through this about 1993 - I'm currently using primers I hoarded from that year.  Guess we don't need to feed a panic either.
