Hornady spssp

I cant seem to find the Hornady .308 130gr single shot pistol bullet anywhere.  I can't even find it on the Hornady site.  It may be discontinued so I may have to find an alternative.  Any suggestions?

Pick any other 130 grain .308 caliber bullet and try it.  The my favorite brands would be Hornady, Speer, Sierra, Nosler and Barnes.

Nosler 125gr Ballistic Tips are a very popular single shot handgun bullet

patw,
I believe they are gone...I purchased several boxes a few years back because I think I heard they were going to be discontinued.  They shoot exceptionally well from my T/C Contender 30-30.  They expanded picture-perfect.  Doesn't Hornaday have another 130 grainer to take its place?  Good-luck...BCB

patw,
Yep, I think they are done.  I really don't know why except that a new fangled red plastic tip bullet looks better and sells better I suppose!  Most people seem to act like crows, if it's shiny and new, they will pick it up!  New and improved you know.  But, unless a bullet is designed to perform in a slower situation, i.e., the Contender and 30-30 Winchester cartridge, it might shoot well but most likely not expand.  The 130 SSPSP bullets expanded well when shot from my Contender chambered in the 30-30 Winchester.  And so it goes.  SO, I solved the new and inproved problems--I started shooting cast bullets of the old standby molds of days gone by.  Many of these bullet designs have survived for nearly 1/2 century or maybe longer.  I wonder why???!!!  Look at gun shows and the likes.  You might find a box or two of the SSPSP's collecting dust.  Good-luck...BCB

Try Sierra for a single shot pistol bullet----135 grains if I remember.  Gene

I was told that they were discontinuing them awhile back.  I went with the 150gr SST interlock bullets and the performance is great out of my .308.

Looks like Sierra now only has the 125 gr ProHunter flat base.  Should work fine. Gene
