After over a year of working with bolt fifles and AR-15's.
I decided to just go out and have some fun with the old lever rifles, neither one has a scope on them. One is a 1894FG in 41 mag, the other is a 1894S in 44 mag/ Special.
Well, I've got a Freedom Arms Model 97 in 44 Special. So I was hoping to find a load that worked well in both handgun and riflle. You know in the real world that hardly ever happens, if at all.
So I thought I would try my pet load that I use in my 44 Spl. I use a Hornady 180gr. XTP in that pistol and has been the most accurate load I've found for it.
I was at the fifty yard line and started shooting the 94S with those 44spls. not making any sight adjustments as of yet, just looking for good groups.
Wow! the first group was low and to the left but what a group! Tried another group, without sight adj. Almost the same results.
Now time to start making sight adjustments. I got her shooting dead on at 50 and can keep the 5 shots in the nine ring or less.
If I were to put a scope on the gun no telling what it would group.
All I can say I just got VERY LUCKY to have a rifle and a pistol that both like the same load.
Now that is a TRUE handgun/rifle combination.
Needless to say I'm very happy!
