Toyo Tires
« on: September 02, 2006, 05:27:12 PM »
Anyone have any experience with Toyo Tires, either the AT or the MT?

I need to get some new tires for my F250 4x4 and I was considering the Toyo.

How are they for milage and ride?

We run these on all our Superdutys at work. these are grounds vehicles and used for day to day trucks as well as snow removal. these tires work great!!

One thing I will say is dont judge them to fast...what I mean is it will take a couple hundred miles defore they calm down and act as they should. Snow, rain light mud they are fine and wear better that 50.000 miles on our rigs.

My FIRST choice is still BFG at's but these seem to be a good tar...

Great tires.  I ran a set nearly 60,000 miles on a 93 Toyota 4x4.  The tires still looked good and had plenty of thread left when I replaced them due to sidewall cracks from UV exposure.  I drove the vehicle quite a bit on the highway, the combination of high spees and the West Texas heat works on the side walls and has caused a lot of accidents when tires have blown.

If I remember correctly, at one time Toyo was owned by Toyota.

I live in big snow country and the best tire ive ever owned is the bridgestone duelers that are on my silverado right now. Followed closely by bfg mud terrains.

I had a tire dealer try to push toyo tires on me.

He started saying that the Japanese maunfacturers don't have to pay into the union pension and benefits so they can sell them cheaper than american companies.

Well being a union carpenter and also the shop steward I took offense at this. I wasn't going to put those tires on my dodge anyway. Ended up with wrangler at's. He even had a comment to make when he saw my credit card with the American flag on it. I got a good price as a friend from work knew someone there, if not for that I would have walked out of that shop.

Honestly they may be great tires but the way the dealer acted I'll never find out.
