« on: September 04, 2006, 03:30:18 AM »
Thinking about a Henry .22 lever rifle, They have a Brasslite receiver. What is that? I heard a rumor its plastic? Seems way too easy to scratch.

Not plastic, but brass coated aluminum.  They are a little easy to scratch, at least the std ones are, but still very durable.
God, Family, and guns, in that order!

If you buy a standard H01 it is a steel reciever with an enamal finish.. It is ery durable up sratchs easier than park.

I don't think they are aluminum. I drilled and tapped one for a tang sight last week, and that's too heavy for Al. I think it's probably Zinc.

Both the Goldenboy, and H001 receivers are made of a zinc alloy called Zamak. The name ZAMAK draws upon the basic metallurgy of the alloy group: Z-Zinc, A-Aluminum, MA-Magnesium, and K-Kopper (e.g., German).  Remember this is this the receiver cover without serial number so replacement covers can be purchased from Henry, and delivered direct to your home should it become too scratched up for your tastes.
