Help me here!

Hey there everybody! My girlfriend was talking about what to get me and i suggested another rifle and she wanted to know how much and how she would go about getting it. So...... my question is...... well first off, im goin to hunt yotes and prarie dogs, maybe do some paper punching. My dad has a 22 250 so ive already got dies for that but ive also got a bunch of 243 cases and dies. I think i might even have some bullits layin around too. But anyways, my big dillema is its ether a 243 or a 22 250. and Im not sure if i want a scope or open sights. my eyes are fine and all, but somtimes i just feel like i can shoot better without the scope. Anyways, this topic is open for any and all input as my bday is in 18 days. Thanks a ton! Henry.

Easy, the .243! Great for yotes, deer and even long range varmints, but don't plan on finding a complete Handi with iron sights, they don't come that way unless you get the youth rifle(superlight contour ) which could be restocked with an adult stock. You could order a standard accessory barrel and have them add sights which would give you both, sights will cost about $50 extra. The superlight .243 is another story all to itself.

I agree, the 243 would be a good choice. Lots of varities of bullets to try, and most will stabalize very well in a Handi with the right loads.
As for open sights, as Tim said you would have to either get the Superlight, or regular and have them put 'em on for ya. Or... what about a 24" Bull with open sights added?

We went to Gander Mnt. today and looked at em. I found a .243 with the wood stock. I cant remember what they call those and it was 209$. You guys think thats fair? I think that i will go ahead and get the .243. I cant wait!!!!

If it's new, that's the going price, about the same as Walmart. It would be a 22" standard barrel or a bull barrel Handi if it has a plain wood full length stock.

Do you guys ever feel like you wont use one of ur handis as much if you buy a bigger better one ? Im going to kinda feel bad if i get this .243 because right now all i use my .223 for is to hunt p dogs and yotes. I dont want it to get its feelings hurt over me not taking it yote hunting anymore . Maybe i think about these weird things too much, after all its just a goshdarn gun but i guess im just a softie. Tell me what you all think. (boy am i gona feel like an idiot when nobody else feels the same! )

If you think having just a couple makes you feel bad, think about having over 20!!! I probably won't live long enough or be healthy enough to hunt and kill with every one of em, but they all get shot!! And I still want more!!!   Don't feel bad, it's a sickness, you know!!

Funny thing about this is, if it does happen you will pick it up again soon, be it 2 months maybe a year later and totally "Rediscover" it. And fall in love with it all over again...

you got it right my armor, ive done  just that same thing  before, use one sit it back in the safe for a  few  and  then pull it out , and wala!! oh yeah i needto  take  this beauty  out for a trip,, orrrrr?? pull one out  change the stock on one , to something different and  i got a new toy!!! go  for the 243 , one thing is your picking up a reciever to send in later on for  another caliber??hhhmmmm???

Lol! Dont remind me! otherwize ill go nuts! I thnk the next one will be a .44 mag barrel! Im getting so excited! The next time i go down to denver im goin to pick up the girl and head over to gander and pick up my new toy! Thanks for all the input guys! Its appriciated!
