I used mine (now Darat100s) UltraComp -06 last year deer hunting. I ended up making a nice long shot on a doe off hand. They are very good barrels, with the threaded Muzzle break nicely done..hardly any seam at all. I shot mine with the break on and unscrewed off as well. With it on, the blast was formidable, no matter what grain or load I shot. And lets just say you won't make any friends at the range with this little number
I took it off and found it enjoyable as well. Only with heavy loads (180gr +) did I notice a differance in recoil. And there is where the muzzle break seemed to shine to me.
Only down side to them, for me, is noise... unprotected in a hunting situation they are loud as HE!!... and the muzzle blast is distracting. If recoil can throw you off, so can an unexpected face full of blast
... I admit though I always shot off a bench longer than my rifles, so it does pick up the escaping gas. Kind of a trade off here.
If you do get one just be mindful. Regular ear plugs will still "leak" sound in. A good set of muffs are a wise choice.
Like I said and many can attest to, they are great barrels. But they do have their downside as well.
I loved it for practice, but for hunting, I would just assume take it off. A decent Smith can rig up a thread protector for it at a small charge. A good invesment for dual purpose use.
