Blazer Vanes and Maxima's
« on: September 05, 2006, 10:14:24 AM »
I've been a fan of feathers for years. But for some reason these Blazer vanes interest me.  They are the little 2"ers.

Also thinking of going with the Carbon Express Maxima Hunters, but $130 seems insane to me. I have the CX Hunters but can't seem to find them in the 300's anymore.

I don't know why I want to change things since I keep busting up my fletching w/ other arrows anyway.

Any input of the Blazer's or Maxima's would be great

Well since there were no replies to my inquiry I decided to get the maximas in 350's and go with the blazer vanes.
Last night I glued the vanes on and cut to length.  I will report tomorrow w/ results.  Also going to shoot Slick Trick broadheads with them.

I use Blazers on my hunting arrows.  They work very well and are quieter than feathers.

I have used the Maximas and blazers for a while now and they seem to be a great match.  Other than the one I launched into the corn field (but my lab found it for me) because I tried a 80 yard no pin shot, they group very, very tight.  I shot my slick tricks w/ the set up and also great, just like the field tips.  I must say that the Maximas were worth the money.

I just started using Maxima 350's with 2" blazers vanes last year. I have killed 2 deer and 1 elk with them they seem to work fine. As far as ST I tryed them last year and found them to be very dull and hard to sharpen. I have heard that the new blades are a great improvement over last years model. I perfere thunderheads that come shaving sharp out of the package and fly just fine for me.

I just got my new blades for my 1 1/8" mags, FINALLY!  And they are a great improvment from last year.  Very sharp. Although I didn't have any problems last year.  I killed a 400# bear and a 140" buck w/ them and they each didn't go 50 yards and bled like stuck hogs.  Thunderheads hit much looser groups than slicks for me, especially down range.

Had some Carbon Express Maxima Hunter 250's with blazers made up this season.  Shoots AWESOME out of my Reflex, can't wait to see the performance on deer.
