Shot the SBH today...

I have had some problems with a 5.5" 44 magnum.Mainly the issue that it was shooting high even with the rear sight bottomed out.

Anyways, I finally called up Ruger and they sent me a new front sight for a 45 Colt. It is much taller and I installed it at home.

The gun is shooting closer to the point of aim at 25 yards, but the loads I took with me were not my usually hunting load.

I did run into another issue. I had some 265 grain LBT loads that were loaded warmly. I noticed that one of the chambers is rather sticky. Sticky to the point that I would have to push the ejector rod on the corner of the shooting table. All the other chambers are fine and dandy. A little push and they are out of the cylinder. But there is one that is sticky and it seems that the brass has some streaks on it.

I will assume that a new cylinder is needed. Will Ruger replace it?

No, you don't need another cylinder. You just need to polish that chamber with either some emory cloth, or fine(400 grit or less) metal sanding paper. You don't want to completely smooth it out like a mirror, just smooth out the tool marks(rings) inside the chamber.

As much as I love Ruger revolvers, this is fairly common, especially in their single actions, and Redhawks.

Jerry, do you think he'd be better off using 400 or greater, (that is, finer......600 or better) to use on that chamber? Just curious, JD45
