First wished for rifle

When I was a kid I had this tremendious urge to someday have a Savage 99 in 300 Savage. I've never had one. I even had a small plastis model of one I kept on my wall and would take it down every night and handle it dreaming of a real one. My step-father wasn't much of a hunter tho and my family that was lived on the west coast. a contenent away.

Every kid must have some dream, what was your's and did you ever get it?

Always wanted a lever action 30-30,even though I don't need it I just got one two years ago,a marlin 336

Ruger M77 in .30-06.  Got it.  Love it.  Have moved on to Ruger #1B in .25-06.  Got it. Love it more.  I have a lot of love to give.

Yes, I like this post.  Mine was "The Rifleman's" rifle - a Wincnester Model 94 in 30-30 caliber with the souped up round lever action that would provide sustained fire for each time you "threw" the lever to recock it.  What a show.  What a fantasy life for a kid to grow up admiring.  Don;t see TV like that anymore.

I guess the only (or most) wished for gun would be a Model 94, 6.5x55 Swedish Mauser!

I passed up a really nice one back in the mid '70's in a pawn shop in South Dakota!
That one was only priced $125.00, but, then I wasn't financially set!

Another, a friend had, here in NY and said he'd never sell it!
Well, he did, to someone else and I found out about a year later!

I really don't know what it is about it, but if I could find one, affordable, I'd own it!

I guess I told a fib before, the above were the 1st hunting rifles I wanted and bought.  I do have a dream rifle that I have not yet obtained.

When Ruger first brough out the #1 I had a passion for one in 25-06 but couldn't afford it. A number of years later I found one in Ft Collins, Colo brand new for $265, tell ya how long ago that was? Had the money and couldn't bring myself to buy it, nothing left to dream of. That was then, now I want one again and should the opertunity come up and I have the money at the same time, I'll get it this time!

I always wanted a Winchester 94 in .30-30, and I got one 2 years ago. It is a 1951 model, and I love it. The first Deer season I used it 5 whitetails fell victim to it's power. I carry it most of the time now, mostly because it's so light and quick to shoulder.

     i killed my first deer a decent 8 point with a mdl 99 in 300 that was loaned to me by a nieghbor. i have wanted one ever since. all these years ive kept the partial box of shells we got for it just in case i come across one. hope you find one im sure youll enjoy it!

All ways dreamed of getting a Winchester M94 30-30. I took my first deer with my grandfathers when I was 18 and a couple of years later I was at his farm ang he gave it to me I was about the happiest person in the world that day and I plan on my son using it on his first deer hunt and passing it on to him

hope ya all got what ya wanted...I still want and do not own a Drilling..I have wanted one ever since I can remember reading about them being survival rifles carried by german pilots over africa.

When I was a kid I always wanted my dad's Winchester model 88 308 Win. He gave it to me when I turned 16 and I've shot two deer with it so far! ;D

As a boy, Davy Crockett was my hero. I must have watched the Disney movie with Fess Parker 50 times in 2-3 years. I've always wanted a flintlock like his. When I was 22 my dad gave me one. He'd bought it used a few years earlier for himself, but never used it. It's a Jack Garner, .50 flintlock with highly curled maple stock and iron furniture. He let me borrow it for deer season that year, and after he saw how much I like it, he gave it to me for Christmas that year. I killed my first deer with it, an 8-pointer. It's still my favorite gun, and probably always will be.

Ive always wanted a rifle with a big round lever on it like John Wayne had.  The caliber won't matter much as long as it looks like the Duke's.

i have an uncle with a savage 99 in 300 sav and have seen it take many deer.  Grandpa uses a 99 in 243 and has killed tons of deer and coyotes with it.  i personally am using my dream rifle after staring at it for years in my grandpas gun cabinet, sako 75 in 7mm rem mag. what a sweet shooting gun it is, but a little heavy to pack around.

and what tango said......Hondos rifle in 32-40...Watched that this weekend
at hunt camp......Actually I would like every cowboy rifle made!

My first rifle that I longed to have was the M1 garand...finally got one when I was 15. Bought it at a flea market for $350 bucks, and still have it 15 years later. Its a Springfield.

When I was a very young boy of 5 in 1960...my father was a custom rifle builder...and he had all sorts of rifles in the house at 1 time or another...He had a huge wall with just about every kind of military rifle there was..from the earliest match locks..to one of my favorites...the Thompson machine gun...But...the one I wished for every evening...was a beautiful curly maple stocked  Model 70 in 270 Winchester he was building...it was #1 in a collection of 12 he was comissioned to build...The inlays he did of that full curl ram were in Ivory on it...It was absolutly stunning...I never got to own that rifle..nor even shoot it...but I would mortgage the house to buy it if it ever came available...

Remington 760 30-06. My son, Chad, (High Brass) has it now. I didn't like bolt guns. I've got two now and a 7600 7mm-08 he bought me. I guess I've gone full circle. I really do like the pump better. A stainless 7600 with synthetic or laminated stocks would be the ultimate for me.

I have wanted a rifle in .350 Remington Magnum for 30 years, and I got one about a month ago. A Ruger M77 All Weather, topped with a Nikon Buckmaster 4.5x14x40 scope. Just started reloading for it. What a great caliber!
