Problem assembling 336
« on: September 07, 2006, 02:23:43 AM »
Hi,

When putting the bolt back in, I may have pushed it too far forward and locked it up. Now the lever won't go back in. How can I release it to get the lever back in?

I noted in my gunsmithing manual, the ejector should be staked in but this one isn't. Guess I'll have to hold it in while pushing the hammer back and shoving the bolt forward. What a handull!.

Thanks.

I haven't seen an ejector that was staked in, but to reassemble I just lay the rifle on its left side, lay the ejector in place and slide the bolt in.

As to the other problem, you may have to do some disassembly.

Think I read this somewhere on this forum. Hold the rifle in shooting position and tap the top of the receiver firmly to release the holding mechanism.

Try running a dowel rod from the muzzle.

That's what I would suggest as well...Hole the gun in shooting position as the locking lug, if in, will stop the bolt from moving if upside down....

The ejector does not "stake" in. as prev. mentioned, it just sits in its hole and is held in place by the bolt...

 Good luck,

It came loose by just pushing ahead on the bolt. On Leverguns, they also suggested tapping the top of the receiver with a plastic mallet while pushing the bolt ahead if just pushing didn't work. That is a lot easier then taking it apart. Thanks.
