Hunter class equipment help
« on: April 11, 2003, 06:56:16 AM »
Hi Folks!
First time here; great forum.
I am thinking of acquiring an Anschutz 1712Silh. Sporter for Hunter class. The weight advertised is 7.28lbs. This does not leave much weight for a scope. I can't tell for sure, if the barrel is taperd, which I believe it must be to classify for Hunter? Any thoughts would be appreeciate.

Use a Leupold 6.5 X 20 or similar weight scope and lightweight rings and you will not have a problem.  I have owned numerous Anschutz 1700 series sporters and while they are all close to the limit they all made it with the above combination.

i would suggest to go with Model 1712 D FWT Monte Carlo, Fibre glass stock, advertized weight is 6.5 Lb- this way you have lots to go for the scope, and you could go with B&L 4200 6-24 by 40
