38/44 loads in my Model 97 357?
« on: September 09, 2006, 04:27:28 AM »
I dont' know how many of you subscribe to HandLoader, but there is a Brian Pearce article this month about the 38/44 cartridge.  My favorite 357 bullet is a 163 gr keith plain base SWC I get from leadheads.  The problem is that it's too long to fit in the cylinder of my 97, when I load in 357 cases and crimp in the crimp groove.  FA97's have a shorter cylinder length then something like a Ruger.  Any way, I am now thinking I could use the 38/44 data listed and 38 special cases, and use them in my 97 with my preferred bullet.  Any thoughts on potential cylinder erosion or whatnot?

Thanks,

Tom
