Encore or Omega?
« on: September 09, 2006, 11:53:07 AM »
For you guys that have shot or own both, which one do you prefer and why?  I own the Encore and have been considering getting an Omega also.  My Encore is blued with camo stock and I'm leaning toward stainless and camo for the Omega.  Having never shot the Omega I'm looking for opinions before I buy one.

I have shot and owned both, they both shoot great. I stayed with the Encore's because I like the feel and look of them better. But either one will get the job done. If you already have the Encore, the Omega will not give you any advantage. That would be a good reason to buy 2 more Encore barrels.  ;D

Omegas are great, I own 2 versions.  If I were you I'd get one of each for variety of nothing else.  The omegas are easier to accurize if necessary, but both very accurate.

I think having two 1-28" T/C (or any manufacturer) inlines is too much alike. My idea of shooting pleasure is having one of each twist -- then one of each of the main three caliibers..... 45 excluded except for the White.

1-20" 45-cal White Rifle or 50-cal T/C Scout
1-28"
1-48"
1-66" (or thereabouts)

50-cal
54-cal
58-cal (1-70" twist)

Covering all these bases gives you a nice variety. If you get bored with all these, then you could consider a musket and/or flintlock.

Three years ago I owned one of each. I sold my Omega and bought a Savage ML II. The Savage shoots smokeless powder or the other stuff. I still shoot my Encore some times, but hunt with the Savage all of the time.

In this situation, I think I'd keep the Omega and convert the Encore to smokeless.  Savages broke ground but I've been pretty impressed with some of the advantages of the various conversions.  Too bad smokeless isn't legal here, I'd give it a try.

How do you acurize the Omega?
