What double action do you use for carry or would you use as a carry gun and why?
Thanks Doug

The 4" 629 for those situations where you just HAVE TO make sure you can stop the perp (who may be 6' 12" and weight 350 LB and be loaded on PCP).

I have two Colt revolvers with 2" barrels that I love. Cobra and Detective Special. Great carry weapons if you can find one.

Dan Wesson 4" 357.  Easy to carry, accurate, great stopper in the 125 JHP.  For dangerous game,
either my 44Mag or my 445 Supermag, again both made by Dan Wesson.

Taurus Model 85 Ultralite. Light, reliable, and handles +P loads. Have a Colt 2" Cobra that I am getting fond of, also.

Over the years i've carried two revolvers more than any others...  A S&W M-19 357 mag...  and a S&W M-19 in 44 spl... ("K" frame guns)

I've always lived in a cooler climate, so i could get away with carrying a slightly bigger revolver, so the medium frame size worked out fine for me 99% of the time.

my dan wesson 15-2 357mag with either the 2,4,6,8"barrel on it with 38special or 357mag rounds hydroshock if woods carry 2 rounds for snake shoot. And my dan wesson 44mag with either the 10" barrel scoped or not for deer or 4"barrel for carry backup.

When I was carrying on a daily basis I used either a S&W M19 with a 4" barrel or a S&W M28 with a 4" barrel.

Then I had the M28 reworked to use the 45 ACP cartridge!  For the next 12 years it became my American Express revolver, never left home without it.

Never weighed it but it seemed with the bigger holes in the barrel and cylinder the M28/25 weighed less than the M19.  Maybe it was the way it fit my hand but that's how it felt.

Like StrawHats converted M28, a M625 Mountain Gun makes a great carry piece. The 3" M65 .357 and M60-10 3" with adjustable sights also carry and shoot well.

I have a M357 .41 Magnum Airlite that I have carried a bunch while hiking and hunting in Maine. After a while you don't even know it's there. A friend that I hunt with likes it so much he is going to get himself a M325 Airlite 4" in .45 ACP.

A 2 1/2" to 4" Smith K, L, or N frame in .357 or .44 Special.

Backup would be a 2" J frame Centennial type.

Steel frames only please, maybe an airwieght model for the J frame.

There are other good ones, but I like these...

I used to be a semi auto guy, carried for years personal and duty... had a couple of mishaps with my last SA 1911A1 as in jamming.  this makes you feel that it is unreliable in a confrontation.  Went back to a wheel gun in 5 shot 2" ported 44 mag Taurus Tracker.  It has proven to be stronger than I thought (totally by accident) and reliable going bang every time.  The most accurate loads to date have been 240-gr JSP over 8.0 gr of WW231.

2" S & W J frame in .38 Special. I live in South Florida, where concelement is tough. This works well. If I have to carry more, I usually opt to not carry at all. Hence, my Para P12-45 collecting dust in my safe. I thought that was THE carry gun several years back when I bought it. It just got too uncomfortable. I wear shorts and a golf shirt most of the time though. It's not easy to carry in that attire.

I have carried about everything Smith and Colt have made in the last 35 years. I do however, carry a 1911 that I tuned myself. Recently I wanted a revolver and ordered a Ruger SP101 2 1/4" in 357mag. double action only. Had I known what I know now, I may have never owned all those Colts and Smiths. Due to my 6'3" 240lb frame either one of the handguns hide about the same.

Like Dee, I've carried S&W's, Colt's & Ruger's for almost 40yrs. My latest carry gun has been a S&W 696 , 44spl. with my own cast 240 HP over 7.0 grs. Unique.
It fits your hand nice, is very accurate, low recoil  & will take out anything from a squirrel to a deer.

2.5" 19,
3" 66, or
4" 57 (my road gun).

Just added a 638 Airweight to my collection.

S&W rules (DA anyway.)

I used to think SW was the only way to go, and have carried them off and on for over 30 years. However, the Ruger SP101 double action is as smooth as any Smith I ever carried, and I like the push button cylinder release better than the Smith slide release. I also like the stronger 3 point cylinder lockup. But, then again the Smith is a fine revolver.

I carry a Sig .357 for my carry gun. But if I was to carry a double action revolver it would be a S&W Model 325PD Revolver - 2 3/4" HIVIZ 45 ACP.

S&W M60 with a 3" barrel in .357.  It's a steel J-frame.  Packs and shoots easily, and it's very accurate.  It also has a set of Crimson Trace Lasergrips on it.

Just bought a new one yesterday to add to the carry collection—a S&W 638. Sure love its light weight when just sticking something in your pocket.

I have a keen affection for my S&W model 640 (.357 Mag.)  I maybe all SS, but it is worth having a good heavy mag in my pocket.  I always shoot high scores on the police range during quals.

If I had a choice of two guns to take to war, the S&W 640 would be my second.  Of course, the 1911 .45 ACP would be my first.  ;)

I am rather attached to my Father's old Winchester also, However, if it were a war I was attending, and given the choice of two guns, I believe I would leave the revolver at home in the safe, holster the 1911, and opt instead for the second weapon, a rifle of the proper calibur and phyiscal qualities. But that's just me. ;)
