Now that is a beauty for sure. I love the way those grips look surrounded by stainless steel. Very nice, and very nice caliber and barrel length as well.

Tell me Swampman. did you fit the Super Blackhawk hammer yourself? I always liked the wider hammer spur and thought about getting one for my .45 Blackhawk.

They are supposed to drop right in.  The one on my .41 did, but the one on my .45 wouldn't, it was too thick to fit inside the frame.  I had a local gunsmith install it and do an action job at the same time.

Cary is a great guy, and does awesome work.  The grip locator pin is inastalled in the wrong place on this gun and it took a lot of extra work to make and fit these grips because his jigs wouldn't work.  He didn't charge me extra.

That looks like a pic I seen on The Ruger Forum. If I didn't type it then, I'll type it now. Beautiful handgun! I used to have a Stainless 45 Blackhawk and sold it. Wish I hadn't!!!

I'd rather use a glove.  The rubber grips are very functional though.

My 2 favorites are now my Ruger 'Flattop' 50th Anniversary Blackhawks in .357 and .44 Magnum.  Great fit, finish and accuracy in both of 'em.  And yes I use the hard rubber grips but with a shooting glove for the .44 Magnum.  Dennis

My fav Blachawk is actually .45 Colt twins;

If I had to pick just one it would be the 4 5/8" model as it is .45 ACP .45 Colt convertible.

Well this would surely be one of mine. She shows with her 38/40 cylinder, but has one in 10MM as well. No 32MAG mate for this one, but another pair I have is.  The grips are HIPPO Ivory, which is reported to be a bit tougher than other flavors of Ivory. I don't doubt it one bit. :D

My favorite Blackhawk is a 5 1/2" SS NMBH in .45 Colt with a .45 ACP cylinder. I shoot it more than just about any other gun.

Thanks Salvo,

They are a riot to shoot. I have some heavy loads and plinker loads and enjoy shooting both. For close up deer hunting, a 405 grain bullet chugging along at 1800fps is like a kill switch.

A friend gave me this Blackhawk New Model in 45LC with Antler grips to try to get me interested in Cowboy Action Shooting BUT as I was only into Bullseye 2700 matches at the time it has just sat in my safe. Now i am retired due to a heart attack and the doc has such an attitude about me not shooting I done know what to do with it. it is pretty and was very good to shoot tho.

Aloha and have a Mele Kalikimaka and a Hauoli Makahiki Hou!

Pards,

My favorite Blackhawk is a Super, 10.5" barrel and strectched frame, 5 shot cylinder- line bored, modified grip to semi-Bisley shape, flat black and chambered in .445 super mag.  ;D  Work was done by Wheeler/Topping Custom Gunworks in SLC, UT.

She does buck with a stout load and 300gr slug!   :o  I can still shoot .44 specials or mag's in it for plinking rounds.  Carry it some in the bush during the sprummer (before the bears go to sleep for the winter).

I'll see if I can post some pic's when I get home from work (at Oliktok Point, AK- No. Slope) this weekend.  It warmed up today to nothing, 0  deg F.  Chill factor is at -15.

My favorite is probably this Old Model 41. I'm afraid that the years of carry on the hip and on the seat of the truck shows. But because it's easy to carry I've usually had it with me when I needed it. It has taken a mess of snakes/varmints and dispatched several head of large game.

mt3030,
Nice Blaster!  Did you leave the frame hole for the ERH open or remove it completely?  That's a well done lookin' little pistol!

Swampman,
That's a fine .41.  Like the SBH hammer.  I put one on all my Blackhawks too.  The only thing that doesn't quite belong in that picture is the absolutely brand new lookin' pair of gloves behind that pistol!  You need an old, crusty pair of honest-worn gloves to make the picture say "Workin' Gun".  Fine gun, though.  Are the grips on there new production?

Here's my favorite.  An old .357 with a SBH hammer and no finish on the grip frame.

Those are my Sunday work gloves. ;)

I try to keep them nice for Church and town.  David Clements had a leftover grip frame and grips from a 50th Anniv, 357 that he sold me.  I put them on this .41.  The SBH hammer really makes the Blackhawk look nice IMO and it's useful.

Swampman,
No doubt about the SBH hammers.  I recently got a hold of a bead-blasted, round-butted alloy grip fame that has been notched out for a Bisley hammer and that also has a very nice feel and look.  The Bisley hammer is as easy to mainpulate as the SBH hammer is.  Here it is mounted to my stainless 357/9mm convertible:
