New Weaver scope from the opticzone
« on: September 10, 2006, 03:22:54 PM »
I recently purchased a Weaver Classic Rimfire 3x-9x-32mm AO from Jon at the opticzone.  As most of you know, I have purchased my last 10 scopes or so from the opticzone, and for good reason, their customer service is second to none, their shipping is fast and well packaged, and their prices are some of the lowest that you will find anywhere.

Well, I recehtly bought a CZ 452 American in .22LR and I need to put a scope on it.  I already have some new scopes lying around, but they are too big for such a small rifle.  It was a chore finding the right scope at the right price.  One of my top choices was the Leupold VX-II 3x-9x-33mm AO EFR scope, but at $349, is more than I care to spend on this particular rifle, which is going to be used mostly for plinking and maybe some hunting.  After looking around, I found the Weaver scope.  My father had an old weaver on his equally old Remington 700.  I think that both were made sometime in the A.D.  :D  Anyhow, I have heard good things about this scope from Jon.  Given that, as a moderator, I TRY to buy brands outside of my favorites (Elite 4200s, Nikon Monarchs, Zeiss Conquests, Leupold VX-IIIs), I decided to try this particular Weaver.  At about $200 or so (I forgot the exact price, which is listed on his website), this scope is a VERY NICE SCOPE.  At first glance, the optics are very sharp, clear, and bright.  I just mounted the scope yesterday (with rings that I also bought from the opticzone), so I hope to sight it in soon.

Thanks again Jon - great recommendation!

Have any of you tried Weaver's newer scopes?

Zachary, I have several old steel tubed weavers but have not tried the new ones. I have heard several good reports like yours though.  ;D Those CZ rifles are shooters in my experience, you are going to like it. Byron

I personally am a big fan of Weaver. Their glass is excellent, especialy the Grand Slams. The design I believe throws people off, but if they look through it, they will see the quality and sharpness of it.
Even the Classic V series are very good quality. Anyone on a budget that wants a good scope, these are a great buy in my book.
Good glass at a good price.

Yea, I must admit that I was impressed with the optics in this scope as well.  Jon has said a lot of good things about the Weaver Grand Slams.  I have only used them on a very limited basis, but my brief experiences seem to confirm Jon's recommendations.

I have the Weaver 2.5X7 Classic rimfire on my Remington 541. I really like. I bought it to replace a Leupold 4X that was on it when I put the Leupold on another rifle.
