Duplex Dead Center performance
« on: September 10, 2006, 03:40:12 PM »
Anyone care to share their expereinces with the Dead Center Duplex Bullets?  I am trying to work up a low recoil load for my son to shoot out of his Knight Wolverine Youth.  He will be using it to hunt for whitetails this fall.

I have a knight wolverine. I have not tried the duplex sabots but have used the 235 gr QT's in it for along time. 80 gr of 777 and 235 gr QT from Precision Bullets shot great. Recoil seemed mild to me and very accurate

Moderator RedHawk1 shoots the the Duplex DC . He should be along tomorrow.

If by chance that doesn't work out for you, get a pistol 50-pk box of 45/50 180 gr Hornady XTPs with the 50-pk bag of black Harvester plastic sabots. Works for my grandson at 50 yards using 40 grains of powder.

I shoot the 175 gr duplex exclusively in my encore. Cecil gave me 3 to try at the range and I was hooked! The first doe was shot at 50 yds, she went 25 feet. massive damage, blood loss. I use them in our ranges muzzleloader shoots, and I can keep 3 rds almost touching on most days at 100 yds. They don't work for everyone, but they do for me!!
you wanna take my guns? go ahead, it's your arm!

The 195gr duplex worked wonders in my old Traditions out to 200yds.  It wouldn't shoot 5" groups in my Omega when I retired the old gun so I don't shoot it anymore.  But they're good if you can afford it.

Omegas have beern around approximently four years. Calling it an ol' gun set for retirement is a bit premature. The Omega is also in the top-3 most popular ML list amongst posters who brag about good shot groups.

I have a Knight LK-85 and it does not like the duplex sabots.  I tried the 195 and the 175's.  I had to go to a higher bullet weight, 240-250 to get the groups I was looking for.

The "old gun" was the Traditions, not the Omega.  It shot MOA in the Traditions, but 5"-5"+ in the Omega.  The Omega now feeds on 200gr Shockwaves which are MOA to sub-MOA depending on me and the day.

The Traditions was not that old either, but I was not happy with the quality and had the opportunity to upgrade.  I am certainly happy with the Omega, they deserve thier reputation and I just bought a second one (an X7).
