Just got this notice that all Calif. hunters and shooters should see;
California Wal-Marts Suspend Gun Sales
Wal-Mart agreed last Friday to immediately suspend rifle and shotgun sales in its 118 California stores, following nearly 500 violations of state firearms laws in six stores.
Wal-Mart's action comes after the retail chain announced in July that it had implemented a rule requiring customers to undergo a background check before buying rifles and shotguns--no matter how long the check takes.
In California, store employees released guns to customers before background checks were completed, and failed to verify the identities of buyers through thumbprints and driver's licenses.
Other violations included failing to document the sale of a firearms safety device with a gun.
Wal-Mart spokesman Tom Williams says the company will begin new employee training in state firearms laws early next week.
A little late with the training in my opinion. Going to hurt lots of sportsmen not being able to run down th their local Wal-Mart to get rifles and shotguns at reasonable prices. Lawdog
