« on: September 12, 2006, 07:15:20 AM »
I'm sure somebody has tried this.. Can't get yhe search feature to work, so thought I'd ask.

Most curious about ideas regarding how to mount the thing.

Thoughts/input appreciated.

Thanks!

I haven't tried it but I think it would be a good set up and would probably be faster than a ghostring and have much better low light capabilities (I'm talking first/ last few minutes of legal hours, not night hunting).  I would probably mount it forward in a scout type mount that way it wouldn't get in the way of carrying the rifle by the action and would provide a minimum of obstruction to your field of veiw.  Let us know what you decide and how it turns out, good luck.

For hunting you would be just as well off with a good scope that can do 1x, such as the Leupold VX-II 1-4x20mm.  I can snap shoot with mine (on a Marlin 1895) with both eyes open, it has a discreet aiming point, no electronics to go wrong and is less expensive.  Simply put....a Leupold VX-II 1-4x20mm can lock onto the target as fast as your eyes do.
We learn something new everyday whether we want to or not.

It would work nicely with a scout mount, I have seen a few setups like this over on marlinowners.com.  It would make a good quick handling close range hunting rifle.

I've never used one on a lever gun but I have on AR-15's. As far as getting on target the EOTech is the fastest sight "I've" even seen. It should work great!
