Purpose of vinegar for cleaning?

What's the purpose of adding vinegar to windex for cleaning the barrel?

Forget about vinegar and windex. Get a bottle of rubbing alcohol. I have been using it to clean between shots and for clean up at home, for over 40 years.
 It desiccates moisture,evaporates quickley,it cheap and it works.

schunter1128........   The Windex w/vinegar does not mean adding extra vinegar.  Just use as-is.  I suppose regular windex could be used too, I have used it and find it works great!
P.S.  Using alcohol is wise to make certain no water is left behind in the barrel.  I usually pour some down the warm barrel after washing in hot, soapy water. Just pour it in, shake it around and pour it out again.  Dry with a clean, dry patch and you are good to go!
