compression
« on: September 13, 2006, 06:27:30 AM »
How much compression does Swiss 1.5 like compared to say Goes 2f or 3f in a 45/70 round with a 535 Postell ?
I am trying to get my Pedersoli to group a bit better.  does powder weight or bullet weight make a bigger factor in groups ?
Lots of questions there will be more later. TIA Nim

Hi

I am loading a .38/303 (.303 British blown out to .375) with 60gr of Swiss 1.5Fg.  I run the charge down a 24 inch drop tube then compress it .35 inch (that's right...............0.35 inch) and the load shoots like a house on fire.

Don't believe what you read about Swiss not liking compression.

cheers

: The Cast Bullet Kid is so rite i have found that swiss likes to be compressed, heres an example when i was shooting swiss in my muzzeloaders and just seating the ball or mini as normal i got a ring of crud in the  bore, but when i seatted the ball or minie with a lot of compresion the ring of crud disapierd. got the same results in the 45 /70  the same goes for wano powder.
