How about H110/Win. 296 and 300 grain Hornady XTPs?

I put off handloading for so many years due to infuence from my dad's bad experience with handloaded ammo made by someone else. I wish I had started many years ago! It's never too late to start!

I find it difficult to comprehend that it would be hard to find a factory load that would be bad for deer and bears since the 454 has killed all the major game of the world.
Me,  I would buy a couple boxes of the Cor-Bon 300 gr loads or 335 gr loads and sight in and go hunting.  It really isn't rocket science.  Maybe a box of Hornady 300 gr XTP loads or some from Grizzly Ammo or somewhere.
I assume that since cape buffalo and rhino have been killed by the 454 deer and bear wold be no problem.

For deer go with Hornady's 300gr or 240gr xtps, they are around $20 for 20 and will work very well.  For black bear use the 300s

Is there a "best" combination deer/bear load? Is seems more and more that heavy-for-caliber cast is recommended for bear  (penetration) and mid-weight hollowpoints for deer (partly for expansion/partly for better trajectory).

I highly recommend reloading. In fact, reloading steered me toward TCs - not the other way around.
