Bushnell Banner on the cover of Gun World magazine
« on: September 16, 2006, 11:38:18 PM »
I just bought a new Bushnell Banner 3x9x40( Mossy Oak camo), the one pictured on the sept 06 Gun World magazine. I was just wondering how good of a scope these are. It will be mounted on a Savage .243 or ArmaLite M-15 Carbine. If on the Savage it will be used for deer and coyote, if the AR it will be just coyote. I am currently deployed to Iraq so I will not be able to check it out for another couple of months. In the magazine they talk more about the gun than the scope. They also list the price as suggested is $199, but I only paid $109 with tax and shipping from SWFA. If anyone has any opinions or experience with the Banners I'd love to hear about it. Thanks in advance.

My buddy has a Banner on his varmint rifle and loves it, I think you'll be happy with it.

It is probably the best scope out there for the money.  You made a great decision and you won't be sorry.  Bushnell scopes are a great bargain for the buck.

thanks for the feedback fellas. I was just concerned that I might have bought a junk scope. I just need a descent scope that works. the dusk and dawn feature should be good for 1st and last light. I think I'll put it on my Armalite, have a NIB Burris FFII for the .243.

I just bought a 1½-4½x32 from Jon to put on a .45-70, the Marlin levergun fellas love this scope for their big bores, if it holds up to the .444M, .450M and .45-70, the Banner should be fine on most any rifle. ;) The view thru it is as good as my Leupold VX-1, but at considerably less money, and it has 4" of eye relief!

:o I have had 4 or 5 over the years and never aray a problem Not real clear at dusk but for $ 100 bucks they are a great value. My new Winchester Apex 50 cal will have the Trophy or Banner on top of it this weekend when i get it ready for my Deer hunt in a month. in fact i'm buying a new 300WSM in Oct and will drop either of these scopes on that rifle, the only other scope I am considering is a Swift Premier but will probably stick with what i know. Good shooting. Jess
