OPINION-well, mine.

There are many fine semi-autimatics out there-- and, well, some dogs also.
There are a number of good, very good custom pieces by some fine smiths.
For my money, ignoring all the fancy smith's pieces, two or three stand apart, heads above the rest, out of the box just danged good weapons which can be put to serious or fun use.
One is a 1911 model, the other two are European designs.

For the money: Ruger P series pistols...........IMHO ;)

Out of the box it's tough to beat a Kimber - IMHO.
