Encore 12 ga ProHunter problems
« on: September 17, 2006, 02:13:42 PM »
New barrel,  Wanted to shoot the high velocity slugs (SST, H2K, Win Platinums, etc) but @ 50yds they are still 12-16inches low and my scope ran out of vertical adjustment. (Bushnell 3200 3x9)

Any ideas for help?  New scope,  try WIN BRIs or Leightfields??

You might, first, make sure the mounting screws are not bottomed out first - those are shallow holes - and, if that does not work, try reversing the rings.....it's a long shot, but that is what I would try first........good luck, let us know how it works out.

Buford,

Thanks for the idea.  The rings are  TC Maxima Quick Disconnects.  Thinking of trying a new set of fixed Warne (TC's).  Hope to be at the range tomorrow!  I'll let you know the results.

Try a set of Burris pos-align rings with the offset ring insert kit. They will "align" your scope with offset inserts of various thicknesses to get it on zero with maximum adjustment left in your scope. This has worked for me on a new M1A when I was having the same problem.
Nothing in the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance.

Had the same problem with a rifle. The solution for me was to go to a
next higher set of ring mounts. Got lucky maybe, but it was a cheap fix.

Buford's right. The encore slug barrels, because of the wall thickness & the way the mounting holes are drilled, require the use a special scope base. You can't use just anybody's bases, as you could w/ the rifle barrels. When I ordered my slug barrel, it was shipped with a 1 piece aluminum Weaver base & a note from T/C explaining what I just relayed above. Check with T/C directly...
