.45 Colt Defender

Does anyone out here have some input on a new, never been fired Colt Defender .45? I came across one for $859, marked down from $999. I like the way it fits my hand, it's got a nice satin finish and it's very concealable. Is this particular model something that Colt is putting out there to compete with Kimber's Pro carry line, etc? How about accuracy, compared to other "compact" .45s? I'm strongly considering buying it after some research. Can ya help a fella out? Peace and God bless, Wolfsong.

I paid $825 for mine a few months ago so that does sound reasonable.  They do seem a little hard to find.  I have been very pleased with mine and it does shoots well.  I installed a short trigger for my small hands and a Wilson drop-in grip safety.  I love it!  44 Man

Is the defender a Series 80 gun, or older?

All of the Defenders and Officers gun are series '80' guns.  Don't let that put you off.  I have a Defender, SS Combat Comander, and an engraved Gov't; all series 80.  The triggers are just fine.  In fact the Gov't came through with about the best factory trigger that I have felt.  Guess my next gun will have to be a lightwt. Commander, or maybe I can find a CCO.  44 Man

I agree with 44 man ive had a few 70 and 80 series guns and there more differnce between individual guns in those series then there is between the two series. My gold cup has been worked over to a 2lb reliable trigger and its an 80 series and ive put thousands of rounds though it every year since the trigger has been done and its still as light and crisp as the day it was done.
