S&W 625 in .45 Colt because it could do any job that needs doing.
A Ruger Redhawk in the same caliber would be an acceptable substitute.

1. Ruger Redhawk in 357mag. S/S  5 1/2" barrel
2. Ruger Redhawk in 41mag.  S/S  5 1/2" barrel
3. Ruger Redhawk in 44mag. S/S  9 1/2" barrel
4. Ruger Super Black Hawk in 44mag  blue 10" barrel
5. Ruger Super Blackhawk in 45 long colt  7 1/2" barrel
6. Ruger Security Six in 357mag. S/S 6" barrel

If ruger offered a "super sized" super redhawk in 500 S&W i buy that too. But i want a 12" or 15" barrel barrel with a weight compisation under the barrel like the python has.

I may go after S&W's in 357 and in 41mag if i can't get the rugers i want.  I talked with ruger about manufacturing the redhawks in 357 and in 41 again but its always deaf ears. I'm fed up with waiting and hoping.

S&W 357 Registered magnum with original stocks and all the paperwork.  It would be a 3 1/2" barrel (Like the one Hammerdown has).   8) 8) 8)

No cut intended but i wonder the disadvantages of having a gun made years ago . The metal in those guns may be finished better ( a judgement call at best ) but the strength just can't match what we have today ?

In the case of those old "N" frames, they were overbuilt to begin with, so it's a non-issue that metals may be better today.

It seems the new guns in SS don't wear or rust as much . They seem to resist flame cutting and errosion better also. Overbuilt is a great example a new 686 is smaller lighter and of better metal than an old mod.27 or 28 .

Well, i've only been shooting my old one for 35 years, (bought it used) so it's still too new to know if it's going to wear out.  If i live long enough to get it wore down a bit, i'll let ya know.

I'd look for an old S&W Model 13...I might look for one later this summer
for a present to myself for my 63rd birthday.
I have had several before and was dumb enough to sell them.
Very simple, nothing at all extra, great revolver.

Mine would have to be a 3" SP101 or a 3" K frame.

I would go with a 3" Model 36 or 60 with the full lug barrel and adjustable sights. I would have the action slicked up and the butt rounded with a Tyler T-Grip and a set of sambar stag grips from Ajax. Back it up with HKS speed loaders with Remington Golden Sabers and a couple of Bianchi Speed Strips and carry it in an floral El Paso Saddlery Tom Threepersons holster.

You know what? I deserve it. MAKE IT TWO OF EVERYTHING!!!!

Always wanted one of those Colt .44 mag D/A's (forgot the model name).  Expensive though, if you can find one.  The one I looked at years ago reminded me of a Python on steroids.

These "only one gun" choices are frustrating to me.....I tend to think in Survival mode and that a 2-gun choice makes more sense.....something for bigger 2 and 4 legged critters and something for small game.  In light of that I would probably choose a S&W 625 in .45ACP (I'm a big 1911 fan and have lots of that ammo) and a S&W 617 in .22LR.  The 625 could be loaded hot enough to handle most big game under 50yds (especially w/plus P loads) w/o excessive muzzle blast and recoil for faster follow-up shots; and the 617 would provide for cheap and light weight ammo to take the myriad of small game available.

Good luck with the 13 been looking here for a year or more , people hold on to then . Can't find a SS 65? either.

Plenty on www.gunbroker.com

Have to add shipping and dealer transfer fee.  And, in my case, a state fee.

Prices are a bit all over the place, but I just bought a nice 65-3 4" off gunbroker for $310.  Crazy thing is I find many stainless M65's for same price or less than the blued M13 version!   ::)

My final cost in my case, with shipping/transfer/state fee, = $365  A bargain compared to price of a new K-frame!

Wheel guns wearout at the lever were it pushes / rotates the cylinder this can effect the timing we need to grease the rear of the cylinder and the lever too so the wear won't happen.

Probably an original S&W "Registered Magnum" with a 5-1/2" barrel, in the original box with papers, etc.

For those who are not familiar with that piece, it's the first version of the .357 magnum (N sized frame),
custom built by S&W, pioneered by Colonel Daniel Baird Wesson and Phil Sharpe back around 1935.

The Registered Magnum eventually evolved into the Model 27.

It is.....what it is...

S&W 36 non dash.  which I will own by Friday!
My FFL holder requires any firearms to be shipped to them via another FFL holder.  So, If I make an offer on a firearm please let me know if this is capable of being done from the start.  Please do NOT mark an item "SPF" to me until we "both" are happy with and in agreement on shipping, funds and the transaction in general.   Thanks

The key phrase to me is "that you currently don't own".  I won't be without a DA revolver....I currently have at least a dozen.

The one I'd like to have but has continued to elude me is a S&W Model 610 4".

I had one of the 610 , it seemed to lose alot of power with the cyl. gap vs. an auto. For me I had said a Colt Python but after seeing the S&W 627 -5 i have changed my mind and like the 610 it can use moon clips .

The only DA revolver I don't have that I want is a 617 6" 10 shot, and once I had it, I'd probably let go of a few others before that one.

Whoever said the Model 10 w/4" heavy barrel and ramp sight was onto something too. I've got one, and I fall back in love with it everytime I pick it up.

TeamNelson they have been selling those ( police trade ins ) for anywhere from $187 to 239 around here . Some are well worn but most are OK . Some are m-10 others are 64's I wonder if a 187 price gun and a trip to S&W for a tune up would be cost effective.
