Not so sure about that as bullets were all lead back in the day.

I can't even tell you how many thousand rounds of jacketed ammo i've seen go through old 27's, all without any issues at all... They are amazingly strong and well built!

I would love a S&W .45 acp, or a Medusa, but The one I want at the moment is a Ruger SP101 .357 mag w/ 3 in barrel.

That said I have yet to see a 27 or 29 hold up while shooting IMHSA . I know the loads are upper limit but still .

Really? I shot IHMSA for a number of years with my M-29 8-3/8" useing my cast 250 SWC over 23.0 of H-110 and won many matches. In fact i won 13 in a row, and my 29 has needed nothing at all. I shot the same gun/load i hunted with, and most times i didn't even have a spotter and i shot high 30's. I shot that 8-3/3 at least 50 rounds a week and most weeks 100 rounds.

I also have a 6" 29 that i've shot a huge amount too, and it hasn't needed anything either.

So i just haven't seen all the problems some posters have mentioned.

OK....Just bought mine.

Model 57 Smith with an 8-3/8" barrel.
Cost an arm and a leg, though it's something that I've lusted over for ions.

Can't wait until the FFL calls and proclaims......."it's here!"

My first choice would be a Mateba in 454 casull, 8 3/8" barrel. Or a colt Python in 357 magnum but with an extra cylinder chambered in 357/44 bain & davis, with an 8" barrel.

Well, cross one more off my list of DA revolvers I don't own.
Purchased a 642 Lady Smith the other day. OK make that a DAO revolver.
Just fit right in my pocket and with the conceeled hammer it pops out with out a snag. And the Rose wood grips look great.
I now own an I, J, K/3, L and N/2 Frame guns.
as well as a Colt Det Spl in the double action revolvers.
A couple more K and N frames and I think I will be off this thread as I will have the ones I want.
Found a 4" round butt S&W M19 in Glendale the other day but the owner wanted $750 for it as a consignment and it seemed about $300 over priced.

Just read the thread (well some of it) on the "best" double action ever, well, now I can honostly say if I could have any double action that I don't currently own....It'd be a Korth.....never seen one, but obviously it must be a doosy.......

Already have a S&W Mountain Gun in 45 Colt and a S&W 629 w 8 in bbl.

Maybe a S&W Mountain Gun in 44 Rem Mag to match it, a S&W model 58 in 41 mag aka San Francisco PD issued, S&W 617 or 17 in 22 RF, or a S&W kit gun 4 in bbl in 22 RF.

Keep in mind I was talking jacketed bullets at over max. for S&W along the lines of Ruger / TC loades.

Seeing as how i won so many IHMSA matches, and killed everything from moose on down with the above load, i learned i don't need to OVER LOAD a handgun to get the job done...

Looks like after all this time I have not replyed to this post. I guess maybe that I did not have a revolver on my list of wants. Now I would like a S&W 686. But I do wish sometimes that I had bought the very nice python chambered in 38 special (not 357 mag.)that I saw several years back.

Shows the difference in taste. I wouldn't have one of those revolving carbines. Revolvers are noisy enough without having them that close to my head.

I too had a S&W 25-5 about 20 years ago and foolishly sold it. It was one of my best shooting big bore guns. I sold it because I was afraid that some day I might accidentally get one of my 'hot' .45 Colt rifle loads in it by mistake.
I have a little Taurus .45 ACP revolver now that is a handier carry gun but I sure would like to have a S&W chambered for the .45 Special case.

unless I missed something the Ruger LCR 22 is not a revolver.
