Problem with Action
« on: September 20, 2006, 09:56:03 AM »
I have a Ruger M77 Mark II in a .280 Rem.  It is a very accurate gun with a good feel.  The only problem that I have with it, is the action is very sticky.  It feels like it is binding when I am closing or opening the action.  I keep the gun well maintaned.  The gun is about 14 years old and I am the original owner.  I have shot other Rugers and their actions seem to flow as smooth as the Remington 700's.  In fact, my little brother has a Mark II in a .25-06 with a medium weight barrel that is only two years old that has an extremely smooth action.  I posted this in the bolt rifle forums, just wanted to see if anybody else had any problems.

I would recommend that you take it to a gunsmith for a good cleaning and inspection. The smith will tell you what needs to be done to correct the problem.

Hodgdon, Lyman, Speer, Sierra, Hornady = reliable resources
so and so's pages on the internet = not reliable resources
Alway check loads you find on the internet against manuals.
NEVER exceed maximum listed loads.
