Marlin 45-70 Cowboy ?
« on: September 21, 2006, 01:36:06 PM »
My used 45-70 Cowboy 26" came with a tang sight on it.There's a blank where the buck horn rear sight should be.There's like 7 or 8 45-70 cowboy's on gunbrokers and none of them look like mine with the tang. Is mine a special run or was it ordered that way.Anyone have any info.Thanks,Dave.

There's a reason why the 45-70 Govt. lives- It works.  ;)

I brought my cb 45-70 used two years ago. It has the marble sight. I am practicing shooting 405 grain hard cast bullets at 9 inch paper plates at 100 yards. Going to take it pig hunting in Texas in a few weeks.

I'm sorry to jack your thread, but Doc's travel plans raise a question. I am also going to Texas to hunt pigs @ Thanksgiving. I plan to bring my Marlin in 45-70 on this trip.

Does anyone have any experience lately flying with a Rifle & Ammo? I'll have my family with me, so I don't want to add more hastle to the already cumbersome airport process...anyone's input would be appreciated.

Check it at the terminal baggage check desk - no problem. ;D
