.22 hornet up grade

I have a .22 hornet and would like to up grade to a k-hornet. what is the pro and con of this conversion?

Pro - Faster, better accuracy, longer case life
Con - Limited on factory ammo, feeding issues if from a mag, you will experience case loss in forming, you'll need to anneal for case life.

You will have to buy KHornet dies also . I will tell this week if its worth it. I have  a CZ 527 converted excellent shooter with Hornet. Will have seating die monday and plan to work on Khornet loads. I didn't have any split of my 200 winchester brass fire forming from my reloads  .The box of purchased winchester split 6 out of the 50 count.

Got a chance to try out loads today with CZ KHornet 40g Vmax and LilGun it is very impressive. The gun is a great shooter .4"-.75"/100yds and tends to open up on  third shot  with regular hornet or KHornet. I had to modify CZ magzine clip to handle longer Vmax but it feeds without issue. I'm very impressed with its performance. I purchased it already converted to KHornet and only test fired in an estate but if extended range is goal I would weight cost  converting hornet vs acquiring a .17 Rem . The converted KHornet can utilize the heavier Vmax effecient bullet .Hope it helps.

How did you modify your magazine?  I just reworked my .22 Hornet M527 mag to take Hornady 40 gr Vmax bullets by replacing the molded plastic rear spacer with one I carved from a plastic butcher block half the thickness.  Although it seems to work in the garage, I'm not sure how it will do in the field.

I removed plastic spacer in rear of mag and filed & removed  .015" on back flat side put it back in redrilled pin holes. I cut a spacer approx the same .015" of aluminium  and used JB Weld to attached it to back of steel mag follower to space it forward. It is my understanding that the rounds will tend to nose dive if follower is not adjusted forward. I didn't have access to a welder to attach a spacer to follower thus the JB Weld. So far the mags are feeding well .

I have several K Hornets. There is no disadvantage! After all, it is considered an improved hornet. I use Lil Gun powder & 35-40gr Vmax bullets. Accuracy is superb.
