Awsome BBQ
« on: September 22, 2006, 09:02:43 AM »
Greetings all,
I had the greatest deer roast last night, and I thought I should share it with everyone.  I was really surprised, because I am not a huge deer roast fan.  I prefer mine breaded and fried like granny used to make.  You begin with the whole ham of the deer, bone in.  You rub it down with Lawry's seasoning salt, or a spice rub of your choice.  Let it sit about 8 hours in the fridge.  Get a fire going in your BBQ grill.  Once the coals are going good, throw a couple chunks of hickory or fruit tree wood on it.  Baste the leg with some Italian dressing and put on the grill.  Let it cook on that side for 1 hour and 15 minutes.  DO Not open the grill.  you want it to get a good crust on that side.  After the time, turn it over, baste it again with dressing,  and let it cook 1 hour and 15 minutes on that side.  Take off the grill, and slice up and eat it.  You can make sandwiches if you like.  The meat is as moist and tender as can be. You could also inject the leg with cajun spices if you want to.  Enjoy!
