Super Blackhawk frame for a Blackhawk?
« on: September 24, 2006, 12:04:32 PM »
I have a Ruger Blackhawk in 45 Long colt. It has a good trigger job & easy hammer. also has a vent rib & sight installed by Poly choke. Great & accurate shooter, but the aluminum frame is scratched & ugly, and does not respond to Alumablack. Will a blued steel Super Blackhawk frame fit the Blackhawk??   That is my preference before I get a brass or regular blued Blackhawk frame.
Thanks for any help.

If you are asking if the steel grip frame from a Super Blackhawk will fit and replace the aluminum grip frame of a Blackhawk, the answer is yes, subject to tolerence matching. You can also get stainless, brass or a Colt 1873 clone frame if you want.

send the gun into ruger and they will probably refinish it for free or at least very cheaply.

I refinished mine with Bar-B-Q Grill paint and baked it in a toaster oven. I stripped it with a caustic oven cleaner (no more than a 5 minute dip) and it looks great.
