You have never tested it,how can you prove its dangerous or unstable? There is a lot to learn about reloading that isnt in your book or your cut and paste sermons. You have 0 first hand experience with the load that was being discused, who are you to give the guy so much flack he bows out of the conversation to avoid your negativity? Some of us are willing to go beyond the book and if its dangerous its our personal choice to make NOT YOURS!
The whole point of using pressure-tested load data is to help the reloader develop safe loads. I've been loading the 7mm Mag for 25 years and have no problem reaching 3,000fps with 160g bullets. But there is no way I can get close with a 175, regardless of the powder I use. The published data from reliable and responsible sources shows the same thing. Sensible reloaders ignore the published data at their own risk.
Several studies have shown that at near maximum pressures an additonal 100fps is often gained at an expense of an additional 10,000PSI or so. Others have shown that an additional 3.0g powder can increase pressures by a similar amount. You can, in fact, often see this relationship in between starting an dmaximum laods, although the pressure increase might be a bit less. No way you can take a top 7mm Mag 7828 load, increase velocity by 300fps, and still have a safe load - regardless of what Mr. Joe says.
Which is why I will NEVER have first hand experience with Mr. Joes overload.
By the way, even Mr. Joe backed off his claims. Suddenly he claims less than 3000fps instead of 3100fps - and in a longer barrel to boot...
