CVA Optima

I have heard about the barrels blowing up on these guns.. I have one and I only shoot 150 grains of pyrodex pellets and never had a problem. Hearing this made me a little uneasy so I called CVA and asked them if this was true and they said no that it was just a rumor and I had nothing to worry about.. Have you guys had any experiances with the barrels blowing up??

Any web-links or reputable sources to confirm any blowups?  I'll bet it's just some messageboard hearsay. If that's the case, then you should treat it as a non-issue. If it's going to create a flinch or blink every time you squeeze the trigger, then perhaps you should consider another ML to purchase.

  I have an Optima and had not problems with it. The accuracy was OK. I only used 100 grains of 777 while shooting it. I heard the rumors also. I purchased a TC Omega Z a few weeks ago. It was about the same price what I paid from my Optima a few years ago. It balances better and is a joy to shoot. I have not heard any bad PR on their barrels yet. If you are looking to buy take a serious look at the Omega Z5. For the money, you can't beat it.

My son has a optima and loves it.
He has been shooting it for over a year and  It shoots 2'' groups at 100 yrds.
I would NEVER have bought him the gun if I though it was dangerous !!!

You guys are probably right about it being hearsay... I just wanted to make sure because when it comes to guns you can never be too safe..

I also read an artical obout cva and tradition barrells being made in spain and are not properly tested.There is a good wesite that covers these problems ( chuckhawks.com ) He reviews all types of guns,ammo,safety issues and new products.Its a realy good website with lots of good info,you should check it out.     Good luck Rob

We would all probably be shocked at how many manufacturers
used Barrels made in Spain.....
My Optima is more accurate with 100 grains of 777 than with 150.
I figure if 100 grains of powder does not kill it, I do not need to be
hunting it in the first place !
